Deiveson “Deus Da Guerra” Figueiredo puts his Flyweight Title on the line for the second time in three weeks as he recently defended his belt for the first time on November 21, 2020 at UFC 255. His opponent, Brandon “The Assassin Baby” Moreno, also was victorious on the UFC 255 card as he beat Brandon Royval by first round TKO. Moreno enters the bout on a five-fight unbeaten streak and with a ton of confidence.

Round 1

Figueiredo starts with a spinning back kick to the body. Heavy left hook lands for Figueiredo. Hard jab lands for Figueiredo. Figueiredo goes for a takedown up against the fence but Moreno defends well. Moreno briefly gets top position after a scramble but Figueiredo defends well and scrambles back to his feet. Moreno lands a stiff jab and then is on the move. Moreno with a hard left hook to the body. Big left hand of the body by Figueiredo. Stiff jab by Figueiredo snaps Moreno’s head back. Moreno misses with the head kick and slips, ending up on his back. Moreno with a slick sweep as he puts Figueiredo on his rear. And the fight is back to the feet. Figueiredo lands several nice hooks to the body late in the round. Figueiredo lands a clean head kick. Great first round as both fighters are throwing and landing heavy shots.

Round 2
Moreno lands a street right hand early in the round. Spinning back kick to the body lands heavy for Figueiredo. Moreno digs hard to the body with a left hand. Figueiredo comes back with a straight right hand that lands clean to Moreno’s head. Figueiredo with really nice work as he lands 4 or 5 punches in a long combination. Figueiredo with another stiff jab that snaps Moreno’s head back. Moreno lands a takedown after Figueiredo gets overextended after missing with an elbow while charging in. Figueiredo is able to scramble back to the feet and both fighters land with some heavy shots as the fight turns part rock em sock em robots. Big left hand lands clean for Figueiredo. Heavy left body kick for Figueiredo. Moreno answers with a big overhand right that appears to land flush. Moreno lands a solid low kick and follows with a jab. Moreno scores a takedown after getting hammered by several shots. Once more Figueiredo is back up quickly.

Round 3
Huge overhand right for Figueiredo early in the round. Wild exchange as Figueiredo first lands a head kick that Moreno eventually catches. After releasing the leg Moreno lands a head kick of his own. Hard right hand body shot by Figueiredo cracks Moreno. Hard left body kick for Figueiredo. He follows with a hard left upstairs and immediately follows with a hard right to the body that both appeared to land flush. Moreno hammered with an elbow and eats it like nothing. Figueiredo slams a front kick to the body. Cracking left hook for the champion. Two left hooks for Moreno as he shows incredible toughness. Late in the round Figueiredo lands a heavy strike to the groin unintentionally that stops the action for several minutes. Referee Jason Herzog deducts a point for the foul. Big overhand right late in the round for Moreno.

Round 4
Figueiredo attacks with a flying knee to open the round. Moreno lands three heavy punches. And follows with three more heavy shots for good measure. Moreno with a big head kick that appears to briefly wobble Figueiredo. Moreno defends a takedown attempt and counters with his own takedown. Figueiredo appears tired as he is controlled briefly by Moreno before Figueiredo gets up. Big right hand for Figueiredo and he follows with a slick body-head combination. Figueiredo lands a beautiful uppercut-left hook combo. Moreno goes on the attack midway through the round as he repeatedly hammers the champion and has him hurt. Incredible fight! Big combination for Figueiredo just before Moreno lands another bodylock takedown. After the fight is back on the feet Moreno lands a huge left hook.

This is one of the best fights an MMA fan could ever hope for. Incredible!

Round 5
The first half of the final round starts slowly as both fighters are compromised. But Figueiredo looks a little sharper as the commentators speculate that Moreno has suffered a left elbow injury, possibly a break. Figueiredo slams a left body kick. Figueiredo with a trip takedown against the cage with 10 seconds left in the round. Big hammerfists and punches from top position for the champion. Figueiredo is an incredible fighter but Moreno, regardless of the outcome, secured a lot of fans with this performance.
