The fourth Happenstance FGC league has kicked off! There are three live streams per week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 9:30 pm Central Time. Be sure to tune into Happenstance FGC’s Facebook pge where all the action goes down here https://www.facebook.com/Chano20XX.

The league format is round robin play where all players play one another. Matches are contested first to 5. At the end of round robin play, the Top 8 tournament will be broadcast to determine the champion.

The King of Fighters series is famous for employing a novel approach to fighting games by using the Team Battle System of 3-on-3 team based matches instead of the usual Player 1 v Player 2 format with the usual three rounds. In King of Fighters each player chooses a team of three different characters, instead of a single character. The player chooses which order the three chosen characters fight. When one character is defeated, the next member of that team enters the match and the winning character is rewarded by receiving a small portion of their health meter restored (assuming it was not a perfect round for the winning character). The dynamics of gameplay result in interesting matchups and the possibility of exciting comeback rally victories!

Match Results for the February 10 Stream

Master Kim (5) defeats HS-Chano (2)

Chano got off to a good start by taking the first point in a back-and-forth encounter that ended when Chano was in the lead at time over. Master Kim played strong in the next match, as he still had Kyo in his back pocket on the sideline when he took the point. Master Kim continued his strong play in the next match as Mary had full health when Seth was called in and Kyo still in the bullpen as Master Kim’s side finished off Clark to take the point. Master Kim was cruising when he took his third point. After getting the fourth point it was Chano’s turn to show his skill. He impressively used Clark to finish off Mary at half her health and then Chano used strong play against Kyo and Seth as Master Kim had called Seth into the fray for help. The final point was close as Master Kim once more called in Seth for help as he finished Clark with Kyo as his primary.

Master Kim (5) defeats HN-TST Uku (0)

Congratulations to Master Kim for pitching a shutout in the other official match of the night. It was clear from watching the stream that all of the players had a great time during the matches on the stream.
