The only womens’ fight on the card features Carla Esparza versus “The Karate Hottie” Michelle Waterson.

Round 1

The fight started with both fighters standing at distance. The first 2 and a half minutes of the fight seemed to elapse with no significant strikes. The Karate Hottie then landed a hard outside leg kick. Esparza rushes in once to no avail. A second rush forward ends with Esparza cracking Waterson with a punch. Another good leg kick by Waterson. Esparza scores a takedown late in the round off of a caught leg kick but is unable to get off much damage as the round ends.

The Karate Hottie starts the round with a solid inside leg kick. And she follows with a good front kick that lands to the body. Waterson lands a nice oblique kick. Waterson then shows good takedown defense on another failed attempt by Esparza. Waterson hits a nice knee strike off of the attempt. The Karate Hottie then lands another nice knee as Esparza attempts to close the distance.

Round 3

Esparza starts with a takedown attempt from a long distance that is easily defended by Waterson. Esparza starts to turn the fight around with a nice body kick. Waterson answers with a solid low kick, but Esparza follows with one of her own. Waterson attempts a level change, but Esparza lands two good knees to ward her opponent off. Both fighters employ a furious pace late as each lands some clean shots.
