On Monday, June 25, Happenstance FGC broadcast another round of its inaugural Street Fighter league. What is Happenstance FGC? It’s a fighting game community that is currently hosting its first online Street Fighter V tournament. Happenstance FGC provides esports programming and competitions online and in-person.

The following is a quick roundup of the action and results of the June 25 broadcast. That broadcast (and all future broadcasts and past recordings) can be seen on the Happenstances FGC Facebook page here.

You can watch the next event on Friday, June 26 at 8 pm central time. The league is scheduled for three broadcasts a week: Monday, Thursday and Friday. The start time is 8 pm central time for all broadcasts.

The league is currently in its round-robin phase. All players play one another during the round-robin portion of the tournament. After the round-robin phase is complete, the top 8 players will compete in a double-elimination tournament to determine the league champion.

The match winners are determined by the first player to win two games in a best of three games format. As with other Street Figther V tournaments, only the losing payer of a game can change characters for the next game, if the match has not yet been decided. The winning player of a game must keep the same character in the next game of a match.

The June 22 broadcast featured 17 total matches.

Here’s a recap of the first match of the evening. The first round of Game 1 was close as both players employed effective defense, with Zeromex eventually taking Round 1. It was another impressive display of defense by both players to start the second round as each effectively blocked many attacks. But it was Rob_Mty with a sustained surge that earned him the round to even Game 1. Rob_Mty used Guile’s range and distance attacks in the final round. Using Guile, he inflicted some late damage with fireball attacks before winning the round with a suplex KO. Zeromex took Game 2 by winning both rounds. In the first round of Game 3, Rob_Mty impressed with his sharp blocks while playing defense and continually scoring with counter-strikes. He once more scored a knockout blow with his grappling as he threw Kolin over Guile’s shoulder to finish the round. Zeromex forced the deciding final round with impressive play in the second round as he got off to a strong lead. Although Rob_Mty mounted a comeback to make this round close, Zeromex finished the round with an aggressive attack. The final round was very close before Rob_Mty closed out the victory with two fireballs and a low kick.
