Redemption 20 Cage Fights went down on Saturday night in front of a full house at the Metropolitan Banquet Hall in Renton. There were a mix of 13 amateur Kickboxing, Muay Thai, and MMA fights on the card.

Christian Garcia Impressive With Quick TKO Victory Over Alex Dunn

The opening bout of the evening pitted Christian Garcia against Alex Dunn in a 145 lb MMA bout. Garcia wasted no time in this bout, deftly ducking an early punch from Dunn and quickly countering with a nifty left head kick. Dunn then immediately went to clinch but Garcia wasn’t having it as he clipped Dunn with a hard right hook, left body kick combination that clearly hurt Dunn. Garcia then attacked with a bunch of hooks but the referee had seen enough and waived off the bout giving Garcia an impressive KO victory at 0:48 of Round 1. Garcia celebrated enthusiastically by throwing no less than five jumping, spinning kicks in the air.

Kaja Obemiller Gets TKO Victory as Darcy Williams Suffers Arm Injury

Darcy Williams got off to a strong start in this 150 lb Kickboxing bout as she caught Kaja Obemiller with a hard straight punch as Williams entered the pocket to attack. But shortly thereafter Williams threw a left high kick that missed the mark and fell down suffering a right arm injury in the process. Williams was unable to continue giving Obemiller the TKO victory early in Round 1.

“Creepy” Caitlin Williams Wins Via Rear Naked Choke Against Leah Foster

After a short exchange of punches early in Round 1, “Creepy” Caitlin Williams quickly shot into the clinch and landed two solid right knees on Leah Foster up against the fence. Foster fired back, landing a right knee of her own from clinch with her back to the fence. The fighters stayed engaged in the clinch for a bit before Williams landed a trip takedown into mount position. Williams then threw a few rabbit punches before switching to hammer fists and hooking right hands from mount. After throwing a few more punches, Williams tried to sink in a rear naked choke but Foster defended by trying to extend Williams arms. Foster also attempted to pop out of the bottom as Williams was a little high on her back mount, but Williams did well to stay to adjust her position and stay on top. Williams continued to work until she secured the RNC submission at 2:15 of Round 1.

Drew Schaeffer Takes Split Decision Over Tony Truong

This 155 lb Kickboxing bout got off to a fast start as both fighters closed in and traded kicks and punches. An early low kick by Tony Truong briefly sent Drew Schaeffer to the csanvas. Truong then went on the attack Both fighters were throwing hard early. Schaeffer had a nice moment when he landed a solid punch that appeared to briefly stagger Truong. Truong responded well by slamming another low kick into Schaeffer that once more put Schaeffer briefly on the mat. Schaeffer responded well however as he landed a solid body kick and then quickly landed a spinning back fist that delighted the crowd. Schaeffer then landed a left body kick that hurt Truong and put him up against the cage before landing some more punches and kicks. Truong once more responded well by landing a hard low kick and a body punch. Schaeffer continued this back-and-forth affair by clipping Truong with a good left hand and another low kick. Schaeffer closed the round strong by landing three hard straight punches. Round was close and hard-fought, but Seattle Fights scored the opening frame for Truong.

It was a battle of kicks to start Round 2, which Schaeffer started strong. Truong, however, had his moments as he landed a hard outside leg kick that caused Schaeffer to do a twisting, quarter turn. Truong then followed with a nifty front left kick. Schaeffer continued his strong work with a hard left front kick that knocked Truong backwards and then Schaeffer followed with solid punches, landing two hard punches up against the fence. Truong was then wise to engage the clinch, but Schaeffer disregarded the ruleset by taking Truong down with a trip. The referee stopped the action and reprimanded Schaeffer for the takedown as this was a kickboxing bout. Seattle Fights scored Round 2 for Schaeffer.

Round 3 saw both fighters start aggressively, throwing hard and throwing down. Schaeffer started by landing a hard outside low kick followed by some solid straight punches. Truong had a nice moment when he landed a solid three punch combination. Schaeffer was then able to position Truong up against the cage where he landed a big right hand but Truong responded with a big right hand of his own that allowed him to get his back off the cage. The final round was close and hard to call.

Schaeffer earned the split decision with two judges giving him the 29-28 nod and the other judge scoring the bout for Truong 29-28.

Sherileen Benjamin Wins Unanimous Decision Against Violet Weaver

The only Muay Thai bout on the card was an entertaining scrap between Sherileen Benjamin and Violet Weaver. The combatants wasted little time getting after it as the fight quickly went to the clinch in the middle of the cage as both fighters traded knees and punches. After separating from the clinch both fighters attacked with body kicks. Early on it was difficult to tell who rated the advantage. As the battle of body kicks continued, Benjamin landed two clean straight punches. Benjamin landed a solid 1-2 combination late in the round. Seattle Fights scored Round 1 for Benjamin for landing the cleaner blows and for being more active.

At the start of Round 2 Benjamin opened aggressively and landed a nice right hand to the body. Benjamin briefly had positioned Weaver up against the cage but Weaver displayed some nice footwork to circle out and put the fight back in the center of the cage. Benjamin then went on the attack and landed four solid punches with Weaver up against the fence. Weaver threw a couple of counterstrikes to back Benjamin off. Weaver then did some good work when she pressed the action, landing a couple of nice outside leg kicks, followed by punches and finishing the sequence with a good front kick. However, Benjamin was still the more active fighter and had a significant power advantage. Late in the round Benjamin did well by landing a hard outside low kick and then threw a nifty five punch combination, landing one hard shot to the body. Round 2 was clearly Benjamin’s round.

Round 3 once more saw Benjamin start aggressively, pushing the action. However, this was Weaver’s best round of the fight and Seattle Fights scored the round for Weaver. The fighters traded some hard body kicks this round. Benjamin landed several hard blows during the round, but Weaver did some good work, particularly with one counter shot as Benjamin entered on her attack only to be met by a Weaver straight punch that snapped Benjamin’s head back. Weaver closed strong with a hard body kick and left hand.

Both women fought hard in this entertaining Muay Thai bout. Benjamin took the unanimous decision 30-27, 29-28, 29-28.

Keaton Albert Takes Unanimous Decision Over Nick Smith

Keaton Albert got off to a strong start in this 170 lb Kickboxing match against Nick Smith. Albert landed an early front kick and followed with a nasty right head kick that dropped Smith. The referee stepped in to take a look at Smith and give a standing eight count before restarting the fight. Smith showed grit on the re-start as he threw aggressively and landed a couple of solid right hands. Later in the round, Albert tagged Smith with a nice right hand that backed Smith up to the cage where Albert landed a left hand. Smith then seize the momentum with a big right hand that appeared to nearly knock down Albert. Albert kept his feet, but Smith put him up against the cage landing several body hooks on Albert. Albert then moved off the cage and charged forward and Smith did some more good work with an uppercut followed by a right hand. Smith landed a big right hand to close the round, but this was Albert’s round due to the head kick knockdown. The round, however was close as both fighters had their moments.

In Round 2, Albert clipped Smith with a hard right hand that appeared to hurt Smith in what was another close round, but was likely Albert’s round. At the start of Round 3, Smith landed a nifty left hand as Albert stepped into the pocket. Albert later landed a big left hand as the fighters threw a flurry of heavy punches up against the cage. Albert then spent a good part of the rest of the round attacking Smith’s body as Smith appeared to get tired down the stretch. Round 3 was solidly Albert’s round. All three judges scored the fight 30-27 for Albert.

Rob Carlin Stops Isaiah Young With First Round Armbar Submission

Isaiah Young shot and converted an early takedown, picking up Rob Carlin and putting him on the mat in this 170 lb MMA bout. Young, however, was not able to maintain control from side position as Carlin quickly got up to reset the fight on the feet. Off of a missed Young head kick, Carlin tried to take advantage by shooting, but Young did well to stuff the takedown attempt. Young did some more good work when he landed a solid front kick. Carlin later landed a couple hard punches before the fighters clinched. After disengaging, Carlin displayed some solid striking skills by landing a combination to the body and followed with a straight right hand that snapped Young’s head back. Young later displayed some good timing catching Carlin with a punch as Carlin entered the pocket.

The beginning of the end of this fight started with Young dropping down to his knees and shooting a double leg takedown which he was able to convert, going immediately into side control. Initially Carlin attempted to escape and work back to the feet, but then went to work on an armbar. After adjusting his position and patiently working the submission, Carlin secured the tap at 2:03 of Round 1.

Matt Johnson Secures Unanimous Decision Over Mike Lee

Round 1 was very close with a lot of back and forth between the fighters in this 140 lb Kickboxing bout. Round 2 brought a wild exchange at the start of the round as Matt Johnson charged forward aggressively and landed a couple of hard punches. Mike Lee also had a nice sequence early in the round when he landed a solid combination of two right hands with a low kick in between the punches. The back and forth continued with Johnson landing some hard punches up against the cage. The fast pace to this fight continued throughout the round. It was close round but Seattle Fights gave the slight edge to Lee in this round. The fast pace continued in Round 3. Johnson was a little more active to start the round and was pressing forward as he had for most of the fight. About one minute into the round Johnson landed a big left hook that was one of the best shots of the fight. A couple of solid right hooks from Johnson appeared to have hurt Lee later in the round. With Lee’s back to the cage, Johnson took advantage with some quick punches. Round 3 was clearly Johnson’s round. All three judges scored the bout for Johnson 29-28.

Phansa Yuthachack Wins Split Decision Against Ligaya Lagasca

This 105 lb Kickboxing bout got off the a measured pace as the fighters took their time in finding their range and feeling each other out. Ligaya Lagasca was first to seize some momentum when she charged forward landing three or four strikes, scoring with a big right hand. Round 1 was fairly close, but Seattle Fights scored it for Lagasca based on her aggression and forward movement. Yuthachack started aggressively in Round 2, charging forward. Lagasca ended up on the mat at the end of the sequence but it was unclear if the referee ruled a knockdown or whether Lagasca slipped. Seattle Fights scored Round 2 for Yuthachack as she was the more active fighter and appeared to land the better shots. Yuthachack started Round 3 on the offense as she quickly went to work with a flurry of punches. Yuthachack continued with her attack as she put Lagasca up against the cage. Yuthachack later had one of her best moments of the fight as a solid front kick landed, forcing Lagasca back and into the cage. Yuthachack did some really nice work in this round with her kicks, showing a nice variety with her kicking attack. All three judges scorecards read 29-28, with two judges scoring the bout in favor of Yuthachack for the split decision.

Louis Petrich Gets Split Decision Over Kyle Segger

Round 1 of this back and forth fight started with Louis Petrich scoring early against Kyle Segger with a nice knee strike from the clinch. Petrich later threw a body kick that Segger caught and converted to a takedown, but Petrich did well to immediately get back to his feet. A brief while later Petrich converted a single leg takedown. Petrich briefly took Segger’s back but was too high on the position and ended up falling off and Segger took top position in Petrich’s guard. The fight then went back to the feet as Segger stood up after a failed triangle attempt by Petrich. Petrich then shot for and converted a single leg takedown. Petrich briefly had Segger’s back before Segger was able to turn into Petrich’s guard. Petrich attempted a triangle armbar that missed late in the round.

Segger landed a couple of solid straight right hands to open Round 2. Petrich scored with several kicking attacks early in the round as Segger was working his jab. The fight then entered the clinch for a period as Segger initiated the clinch. Petrich then appeared to stagger Segger with a punch. The fight then went back to the clinch as Petrich landed two knees to the body. Segger controlled Petrich for a period of time in the clinch, but Petrich was able to score with a few more knee strikes.

In Round 3, Petrich started aggressively pushing forward and landing a right body kick before pressing Segger up against the cage and into the clinch. Petrich then worked for a single leg and converted the takedown but once more had difficulty maintaining position, falling off of Segger’s back as Segger took top position and controlled Petrich for a significant portion of the round. Segger eventually worked his way to mount position and landed a few punches. Petrich, however, defended well as he worked his way out of mount and got back to his feet. While Segger was unable to do much damage with all of the control time, this was Segger’s round. All three judges scored the bout 29-28, with two of them giving Petrich the split decision.

Riley Doerge Takes Unanimous Decision Against Ben McMilan

It was a fast pace to start Round 1 in this 170 lb Kickboxing bout between Ben McMilan and Riley Doerge. Doerge did solid work in Round 1, landing some hard punches. At one point during the round, Doerge was able to put McMilan up against the cage and land a flurry of solid punches. McMilan had a nice moment early in Round 2, landing a solid counterpunch. McMilan later landed a hard outside leg kick that sent an audible thud throughout the venue. During this round, Doerge landed a few nifty front kicks. Round 2 was a very close round with little to separate the combatants. The fighters traded fairly evenly to start Round 3, with McMilan scoring with his kicking attack. McMilan appeared to start the round a little fresher than Doerge, but Doerge did well when he snapped McMilan’s head back with a solid right hand. It was a fast pace to start Round 3, as the fighters continued to fight hard as they did throughout the bout. McMilan had another nice moment when he snapped Doerge’s head back with a solid jab. This fight was Doerge’s, but it appeared closer than the 30-27 scorecards turned in by all three judges.

The “Bosnian Bombshell” Nejra Repp Impressive in TKO Victory Against Kaylee Gaines

Nejra Repp, “The Bosnian Bombshell”, was impressive in her co-main event victory over Kaylee Gaines in this 130 lb MMA bout. It was furious action to start the co-main event as both ladies clearly came to fight. After trading some hard shots, the fight entered the clinch with Gaines initially trying to control Repp, but Repp was able to shuck off Gaines and take top position. However, Gaines was able to quickly get back to her feet. The fight later entered the clinch after a strong attack by Repp that included some solid dirty boxing. Three big punches by Repp then dropped Gaines to the canvas as Repp then closed quickly on the attack which caused the referee to step in and declare Repp the winner by TKO at 1:46 of Round 1.

James Pollard Wins Featherweight Title With Anaconda Submission of Jorge Hernandez

James Pollard impressed in the main event against Jorge Hernandez as he secured the quick submission via anaconda choke at 0:53 of Round 1. After the fighters traded a few blows to start the fight, none of which appeared significant, Pollard was able to secure a front headlock. Pollard did well to maintain control of the position before the fighters went to the mat with Pollard in top position. It didn’t take Pollard long to deftly adjust the choke and secure the tapout, giving Pollard the 145 lb MMA title.
