Round 1

Claudia “Claudinha” Gadelha takes on scrappy Angela “Overkill” Hill in this women’s strawweight bout for tonight’s Co-Main event. Hill enters the bout on a three-fight win streak. While Claudinha won her most recent fight against the tough Randa Markos but has alternated wins and losses in her last four bouts.

Round 1

Hill pressuring early. Nice left hook by Claudinha backs off Hill. Good straight right hand from Hill. Gadelha showing a nice jab early, landing several. Good right hand lands for Claudinha. Double underhooks along the fence for Gadelha as she controls Hill.

Gadelha is one strong woman. She gets the trip takedown after some time working for it. Into side control for Claudia. Heavy pressure from top position. Hill works her way over to the fence from bottom position. Gadelha to knee on belly. Hill scrambles to her feet as Gadelha takes her back when the horn sounds to end the round.

Round 2

Hill with an early left hook counter that lands. Michael ‘the Count” Bisping on the announcing team calls for Hill to throw less lead hooks and more jabs. Hill drops Gadelha with a big right hand to the jaw. Hill’s corner calls for her to let Gadelha up and she complies. Gadelha is wearing it now. A nice combination for Claudia. Hill with the clinch controlling Claudia on the fence. The clinch breaks and the fight returns to the middle of the cage. Gadelha connects with a heavy combo on the return. Two big right hands from Gadelha connect. Hill digs a two-shot combo to the body of Gadelha. Good right hand over the top for Hill.

Claudia with a nice counter left hook early. Good low kick for Gadelha clearly hurts Hill as she limps it off for a second. Both ladies firing and fighting hard. Great straight right hand connects for Gadelha as Hill moves forward. Good inside low kick lands for Gadelha. Three right hands land for Hill. Nice step-in left knee for Hill. Great left hook for Gadelha. Straight right for Claudinha lands. Big elbow off the clinch break for Claudinha. Great action fight!

This writer is happy for Gadelha as she has long been one of his favorite fighters in the UFC. She has a great personality and is a highly skilled mixed martial artist both on the feet and the ground. Bravo Claudinha!
