Seattle Fights is back to bring you round-by-round highlights for all of the main event fights on UFC on ESPN 9 on May 30, 2020. All fight reports are posted immediately after the fight ends. 

Up first is a Women’s Strawweight bout between jiu-jitsu ace Mackenzie Dern and Hannah “Shockwave” Cifers. This fight is being billed as a classic mma “grappler versus striker” matchup. 

Dern is fighting for the second time since taking a hiatus after having a child. Dern was undefeated prior to her last fight in which she took a decision loss to Amanda Ribas. Cifers, who is 2-2 in the UFC is also coming off a loss in her last fight against Angela Hill. 

Round 1

The fight quickly goes to the clinch and Cifers shows some serious strength as she dominates Dern in the clinch with some punishing knees and punches. Good start for Cifers. After the clinch breaks Dern lands a nice upper cut. Cifers with a nice outside leg kick. After clinching again, Dern lands a trip but ends up in bottom position. Dern attacks with a kneebar and produces a quick tap

After being bested on the feet, Dern wasted little tip in dominating Cifers on the ground and producing the submission victory
