Amateur freestyle cage wrestling is back this week when Kagekushti 3 will be broadcast free via livestream on November 7 at 12 pm! What is Kagekushti? It is a new amateur wrestling promotion based in the Pacific Northwest that features high school and collegiate wrestlers, both boys/men and girls/women wrestlers, in freestyle wrestling matches held inside a Mixed Martial Arts cage.

All matches consist of one five-minute period with no stops. The matches are all refereed by an official and traditional freestyle wrestling scoring is in effect. Score is kept by the referee and a winner is announced at the end of each exhibition match.

Each broadcast features commentators and analysis of the matches. Participating wrestlers can also gain exposure by being interviewed on camera.

What makes Kagekushti unique is that all matches are held inside an official MMA cage on a standard wrestling mat. Grabbing the cage is prohibited during matches. However, wrestling up against the cage is considered inbounds and the match does not stop when the competitors are up against the cage.

Kagekushti 1 and 2 were overwhelming successes as each livestream broadcast featured 10 exciting matches. Both of those events can be seen on Kagekushti’s Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/kagekushti.

Kagekushti will be holding regular events in the future. Amateur wrestlers from all states are invited to participate in future events. Interested participants can leave a message on the Kagekushti Facebook page to inquire about getting scheduled for matches at an upcoming event. You can also contact Kagekushti Director Andy Cook at acbushido@gmail.com for more information.
