Features Livestream Exhibition Freestyle Cage Matches

The Pacific Northwest is the home of a new amateur wrestling promotion called Kagekusthi. Kagekushti promotes amateur wrestlers, both high school and collegiate, in exhibition matches held inside of an MMA cage. The events are all broadcast via livestream on Kagekushti’s Facebook page. You can see all future livestream matches, as well as all past broadcasts archived at the following link: https://www.facebook.com/kagekushti.

Broadcasts feature commentators and analysis of the matches. Participating wrestlers also can gain exposure by being interviewed on camera.

All matches consist of one five-minute period with no stops. The matches are all refereed by an official and traditional freestyle scoring is in effect. Score is kept by the referee and a winner is announced at the end of each match.

What makes Kagekushti unique is the fact that all matches are held inside of an official Mixed Martial Arts cage on a standard wrestling mat. Grabbing the cage is prohibited during matches. However, wrestling up against the cage is considered inbounds and the match does not stop when the competitors are up against the cage.

Kagekkushti 1, the inaugural event, took place on September 11, 2020 and featured 10 exhibition matches. Participants included both high school and collegiate wrestlers. This event, and future, events will feature both boys/mens matches, as well as girls/womens matches. The livestream of Kagekusthi 1 can be seen in the video below.

Kagekusthi 2 took place on October 2 and also featured ten exhibition matches. The Kagekushti 2 broadcast can be seen in the following video.
