So here we are with two 50+ year old legendary boxers in Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. in what we’re told is a sparring exhibition. We’ll not belabor the obvious as plenty has been said elsewhere about the merits of this “fight”. Since we’re here for the entertainment, and without judgment, here’s the round-by-round recap.

Round 1

Tyson scores first with a left hook to the body. Jones Jr. employing a lot of movement. Jones Jr. with a jab and move after the stick. Tyson catches Jones Jr. with a left hook upstairs. Tyson the aggressor in the first round.

Round 2

Tyson charges in at the start of the round as Jones Jr. ties him up in the clinch. Tyson with a counter left hook off a Jones Jr. jab. Tyson with a left hook to the body from the clinch. Tyson with a hard left hook to the body late in the round. Tyson appears to be up 2 rounds to nothing.

Round 3

Left hook for Tyson at the start of the round as he presses forward. This round contested largely in the clinch as Jones Jr. looks absolutely gassed at the end of the round.

Round 4

Jones once more employing a lot of movement before the fighters lock up in the clinch. Tyson with a hard right hook to the body before the fighters clinch.

Round 5

Tyson charges forward as the round starts and lands a body hook before clinching. Tyson with a right hook off the clinch. Tyson follows with a hard left hook to the body. Tyson ripping vicious hooks to end the round.

Round 6

Tyson lands a hard left hook as the fighters clinch early in the round. Jones Jr. utilizing the jab as he attempts to keep Tyson at bay. Jones Jr. with a nice moment at the end of the round as he lunges forward and lands a left hand.

Round 7

Both fighters showing more activity to start the round. Tyson lands several hooks to the body. Tyson with a clean left hook to the body late in the round.

Round 8

Tyson presses forward early. Tyson ripping hooks midway through the round. Tyson with two left hooks as Jones Jr. was briefly caught up against the corner post.
